Womens CenterNICU
Although most women delivering babies at St. Vincent Hospital have a healthy, joyful birth experience, if the need arises, it is comforting to know St. Vincent Hospital’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is immediately available. St. Vincent Hospital's Women's Center is home to the region's first Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

This unit provides care for infants:
  • born too early
  • with low birth weights,
  • with congenital birth defects
  • with other problems
One of the hospital's neonatologists is always on site to attend difficult births and to provide immediate diagnosis and specialized care. A team of professionals will care for your infant from experienced neonatal nurses and nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, developmental specialists and lactation specialists. A Case Manager is also available to help parents find short-term housing if an extended stay is necessary, help them understand the baby's treatment plan, and arrange for other assistance.
High Risk Center
The NICU contains a high risk center where high risk patients can remain under hospital care for an additional safe week. The St. Vincent Hospital Women's Center also provides a specially trained medical team that can travel to outlying hospitals and help transport ill newborns to the NICU.
