Our Pediatric Professionals
In this “kids only” unit, a highly trained and experienced staff of pediatric nurses and other professionals treat children ranging in age from a few days to 18 years. All nurses on the unit have certification in pediatric nursing and training in appropriate pain relief, inserting IVs, and performing special procedures. A pediatric case manager, a pediatric registered dietitian, and a pediatric clinical nurse specialist are resources to parents who have questions or concerns about their child’s care or progress. Pediatric-trained physical, occupational, and speech therapists provide inpatient and outpatient therapy based on the child’s treatment plan. A child life specialist helps children and teens work through painful procedures and deal with the stress of hospitalization.
Plus, when a child needs home care, home health-trained pediatric nurses will come to the child’s home to help provide treatment.
Hospice care (offered in conjunction with Unity Hospice) is provided by pediatric nurses with special training.
