Nuclear Medicine is a specialty that allows doctors to see what is happening in specific areas of the body using a radioactive tracer. After a patient receives a small amount of radioactive material, images are taken as the tracer travels through the body. All radioactive pharmaceuticals are FDA approved and determined to be safe for humans.
Studies are performed by licensed nuclear medicine technologists and interpreted by board-certified Nuclear Medicine physician. Physicists, nuclear chemists, and computer specialists support the department. The nuclear medicine department performs over 5, 000 exams annually.


The nuclear medicine division offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including:

• Bone scans
• Bone densitometry
• Lung scans
• Liver, Gall Bladder, Kidney scans
• Thyroid scans
• PET /CT scans
• Parathyroid scans
• Cardiac scans
• Stress tests
• Sentinel Node Breast Biopsy


State of the art equipment includes:

▪ Four Siemens Nuclear Medicine Scanners
▪ One Siemens 40 slice PET/CT Scanner
▪ One GE/Lunar Bone Density Scanner
