Emergency/Trauma CenterGreen Bay's First Accredited Chest Pain Center
St. Vincent's Regional Emergency Center is home to Green Bay's first accredited Chest Pain Center. A highly trained clinical staff stands ready to provide the most-comprehensive cardiac emergency medical services in the area, including:

• Chest pain protocols developed by emergency physicians and cardiologists for rapid diagnosis and treatment of serious cardiac conditions in patients presenting with chest pain.

• Clinical staff trained in cardiac emergencies-current door-to-cath time is lower than national average

• Access to an on-call cadiologist

•Advanced technology and cardiac testing capabilities

The Regional Emergency and Trauma Center also offers a Clinical Decision Treatment Unit (CDTU), a specialized observation unit where physicians can closely monitor patients prior to discharge, helping ensure patients aren't sent home too early, but also reducing the incidence of patient's being unnecessarily admitted to the Hospital's inpatient unit.

Should emergency or trauma patients require immediate cardiac care, including cardiac surgery, the Heart Center team is ready and close by.

The Heart Center was built specifically with the efficiency of care in mind. For example, our cath labs, cardiovascular operating rooms and intensive care unit (ICU) are all located in the same wing of the Hospital. The proximity of these facilities allows a physician to see a patient in the cath lab and, if urgent surgery is needed, bring that patient next door and receive surgery. If needed, the ICU is next dor. All are within steps of one another, conducive to the teamwork on which The Heart Center bases its patient care excellence.

Referring physicians can call (800) 433-2858 to speak with a physician about cardiac patient referral. If the patient meets the activation criteria, the referring physician can automatically activate the cath lab and arrange for ground or air transportation to the Heart Center. This feature allows patients to be admitted directly to a cath lab for fast diagnosis and treatment, rather than making a stop in the Regional Emergency and Trauma Center. This expediated process minimizes wait time to have blockages removed and can improve patient outcomes.
