ER/Trauma -When Seconds Count
Accurate and immediate evaluation of a traumatic injury is essential
for survival and reducing the potential for long-term damage. Ready
24 hours a day, every day, at St. Vincent Hospital's Regional Emergency
Center is a team of board certified emergency medicine physicians
and nurses with expertise in evaluating, stabilizing and beginning
treatment for all critically ill patients, including patients with
neurological needs. The EAGLE
III air and ground transport team is available to transport critically
ill patients from throughout the region to St. Vincent Hospital by
way of ambulance or helicopter.
Diagnostic Services
An accurate diagnosis of neurological diseases and injuries is essential
for a patient's treatment and successful recovery. St. Vincent Hospital
uses advanced technologies to provide physicians and surgeons with
a complete and clear picture of each patient's problem. Among the
diagnostic services available at St. Vincent are CT scanners, MRI,
nuclear medicine, sonography, angiography, EEG and EMG.
Surgery
St. Vincent Hospital's operating rooms are staffed 24 hours a day
and the team of health professionals is ready to respond to any emergency
in minutes. A dedicated neurosurgical team with specialized training
in procedures uses sophisticated technology, including monitors, microscopes,
implants and spinal instrumentation systems. The board certified neurosurgeons
and orthopedic surgeons are skilled professionals who use the most
current techniques.
Neuroscience/Orthopedic Unit
Recovering patients are cared for on the Neurology/Orthopedic Unit
on the hospitals 4th Floor. A specialized care team of nurses
and other professionals with extensive experience provides the necessary
care and education for patients and their families.
