Ninth Floor- Oncology-Medical

9th floor philosophy
:
“Our philosophy on 9th floor encompasses ministering to the sick with medicines and nursing care while providing emotional and spiritual care also to our patients and their families.  Through God’s love, strength, and grace, it is our prayer as 9th floor staff to provide both a refuge to our patients and to aid them during their time of need.”

Care, Quality, Joy and Respect Values

Quotes from nurse on 9th floor:

  • “The type of patients we care for have many different needs and we are all able to work together to meet those needs.”  Ellie, RN for 19 years.
  • “I love all the challenges on 9th floor, and how well everyone works together.  Many patients are struggling with serious illnesses and I hope that I can comfort and help them in their time of need.”  Georgette, RN for 4 years.
  • “The people make the difference; knowing that someone is there to back you up or has the foresight to help you get things done in an emergency.” Julie, RN for 18 years.
  • “If we were to use a sports analogy, 9th floor would be the Super Bowl in action and play-by-play.”  Al, RN for 9 years
  • “Our patients are sometimes diagnosed with devastating diseases and go through difficult treatments.  As a nurse on 9th floor, I feel it is a privilege to be part of our patient’s care, providing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.  I feel our floor is unique due to the patients we care for.  Our staff is also unique in that we greatly support and care for each other.”  Ginger, RN for 2 years.
  • “9th floor encompasses the core values I find necessary for providing quality care to patients.  I enjoy the ubiquitous challenges and find my job rewarding in every facet.”  Mandee, RN for 3 years.
  • “I love working on 9th floor because of the camaraderie with my co-workers and the close relationships I develop with long-term and reccurring patients.”  Risa, RN for 22 years.
  • “What I enjoy about 9th floor are the people-both coworkers and patients.  I enjoy the opportunity to learn in a field where “what we know” continually changes.  There are always new challenges and nothing is routine.  I gain satisfaction in providing resources to nurses, so that they can provide excellent care for the patients.”  Zona Akbari, RN Director 9th Floor.

We have 11 oncology certified nurses as recognized by the national Oncology  Nursing Society.  All 9th floor RNs carry a chemotherapy and biotherapy provider card through the Oncology Nursing Society also.
