The Birthing Center

Choosing St. Vincent Hospital for your baby's delivery will give you peace of mind. As part of the hospital's Women's Services Center, the Birthing Center offers expert obstetrical care provided in a warm, inviting atmosphere.

The Birthing Center's private birthing rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and feature many comforts of home, including a private bath, comfortable furniture and a television.

You'll recover in a large, private room with a shower, television and vanity. If your doctor determines a cesarean section birth is necessary, specially equipped surgical suites are located next to the birthing rooms. Should your baby need special care, the newborn intensive care unit is adjacent to the birthing rooms.

While you are hospitalized, you will be encouraged to keep your baby with you as much as you desire. The nursing staff will help you learn how to care for your baby and prepare you to return home. Lactation specialists are available to support you while you learn to breast feed your infant. There also are a variety of infant care programs that run continuously on a closed-circuit channel on the television in your room.
